Why birdawtching in the Algarve? The destination is usually more famous for sun, beach or golf! The truth is the Algarve is great for birds! Many species pass through the region during migration (more in the autumn than in spring but suprises can always be expected).

The other advantage of the Algarve is its position. From a place such as Cruzinha (A Rocha Portugal field study centre and the accomodation for people coming on a week long tour), within 1h30 driving at the maximum, you can be seawatching at Sagres, seeing Rock Buntings near Monchique, counting Flamingos at the Ria Formosa or looking at Great Bustards displaying in the Alentejo! A great diversity of birds almost at hand. Add to that a nice weather and you have one of the best destination for birdwatching!
