March being the flowering time for many orchids, let’s check what kind of these tiny beauties it is possible to see during an orchid watching tour! Most of the orchids in the Algarve are in flower between March and mid-April. However, some species such as the Conical Orchid can be flowering already at the end of February and the Bee Orchid is usually in flower at the end of April. Visiting a couple of places, about 10 species can be seen in just a few hours. It is also a good opportunity to look for migrants such as Wodchat Shrikes, Bee-eaters, Tree Pipit or Wheatears.
