A grand total of 145 bird species were spotted on the last Laid-back Birding week tour this Spring.

It started at Ludo where we saw Purple Swamphen, Little Bittern and Ferruginous Duck. As usual at this time of the year, Sagres was quiet but Spotted and Pied Flycatcher were seen as well as displaying Little Bustard. Alvor provided a good variety of waders and at Monchique, we had nice views of Blue Rock Thrush and Rock Bunting. On Thursday, Lagoa dos Salgados kept up with its reputation as a great birdwatching place with a couple of unexpected species such as Squacco Heron and Turtle Dove. The trip to the Alentejo was great as usual, providing great views of Great Bustards, Lesser Kestrels, Montagu’s Harriers , Rollers and Collared Pratincoles and the rare Red-footed Falcon.
