Last Saturday, on my daily morning birding at Abicada with a friend, we spotted a large flock of Flamingos about 10 km north of our position. A few minutes later, we heard Flamingos calling and soon realized, the flock was above our heads! These birds landed in the lagoon and we counted over 400! One of the biggest flock ever seen at Ria de Alvor! They were still there the next day and we read about 35 rings, most of them from Spain. Other highlights on these 2 days were a Great White Egret, some Glossy Ibis, a Short-toed Eagle and a Black Kite.

Have a look at our tours for some great birding!
