On January 16th, a ringed Spoonbill was spotted at Ria de Alvor. This bird, carrying 2 plastic rings with the code Y1 was ringed in the Netherlands in June 2006 and spotted for the 1st time at Ria de Alvor in January 2008. Every year since, this bird has spent the winter in the area. It goes back to the Netherlands in spring, stopping in the North of France where it was sighted several time. Other spoonbill from the Netherlands are seen every year at Ria de Alvor but this one is the oldest one!
