This year, for the first time, A Rocha Life organized a birdwatching week in August and it was not so bad. The week started at Ria de Alvor where the diversity of waders was nice and we even saw our 1st Wheatear or the trip. The Alentejo was not too hot and besides Great Bustards, we had a Black Stork and a small group of Bee-eaters. The trip to Abicada allowed us to have nice views of Woodchat Shrike and White Storks. Even if the migration was not at full speed yet, Sagres was good with Spanish Imperial Eagle, Honey Buzzard, Eleonora’s Falcon, Short-toed Eagle and a melanistic Montagu’s Harrier. At Monchique, we had nice views of Bleu Rock Thrush and we finished the day at Ludo with great views of Flamingos and Little Bittern.
